Please join us on Monday, September 28th as we offer a special screening of a powerful hunger documentary film, A Place at the Table, unveiling the explosion of hunger in our country and by extension, in our own community- Stark County.

With the partnership of the Canton Palace Theatre, News-Talk 1480/WHBC, Mix 94.1, and Aultman Hospital, we are excited to bring you a screening of “A Place at the Table,” a documentary about America’s hunger epidemic. Featuring appearances from notable figures such as actor Jeff Bridges, chef Tom Colicchio, and journalist/activist Raj Patel, it has received praise from critics and ordinary viewers alike since appearing at the 2012 Sundance film Festival. For a $5.00 donation, you get more than a ticket and a life-changing and educational film — you can place up to 35 pounds of food into hungry hands. We are also pleased to announce that when you dine at Basil Asian Bistro, located adjacent to the Palace Theatre, 10% of your sales will donated to fight local hunger.

About The Film

50 Million Americans—1 in 4 children—don’t know where their next meal is coming from. A Place at the Table tells the powerful stories of three such Americans, who maintain their dignity even as they struggle just to eat. In a riveting journey that will change forever how you think about the hungry, A Place at the Table shows how the issue could be solved forever, once the American public decides—as they have in the past—that ending hunger is in the best interests of us all.

  • “POWERFUL. More than an eye-opening portrayal of hunger in America, it’s also a call to action.” -Boston Globe
  • “A film that should make you furious.” -Huffington Post
  • A Place at the Table forcefully makes the case that hunger has serious economic, social and cultural implications for the nation.” – Julie Makinen, LA Times
  • “The film explains with devastating simplicity why so many go hungry in a country with more than enough food to go round.” -London Evening Standard
