Join 2011 Hunger Fighter of the Year, Dr. Michael Linz, and his cadre
of wine connoisseurs for the fifth annual Guest Sommeliers Night Feb. 4th at Bender’s Tavern.

Dr. Linz and fellow guest stewards provide wine suggestions from Bender’s wine cellar as diners place dinner orders. In return, tips for the sommeliers benefit the Stark County Hunger Task Force.

Contact Jon Jacob of Bender’s for reservations at 330.453.8424. There will be three seatings: 6 pm, 7 pm and 8:15 pm

The Board and Staff make every effort to ensure that our mission and services continue despite weather and other unforeseen events. However, there are inevitably times that safety and security may be questioned, in which case an advisory alert may be issued. Alerts are reset nightly.

Welcome to the 2011 Foodies Awards. This inaugural event, in conjunction with the annual January board and staff dinner, is a moment of reflection and gratitude to board members, staff members and events throughout the 2011 hunger fighting season.

All too often I hear “I’m just doing my job” or “It was no big deal.” But the truth is we are all committed to our cause of fighting hunger in Stark County and I feel recognition and gratitude are in order for those who go above and beyond the call of “their job” or role. Because fighting hunger IS a big deal.

These awards were chosen at the sole discretion of myself, as an extension of appreciation from all of the staff of Stark County Hunger Task Force for the committed service of our hunger fighters.

Thank you to all board and staff members, we had a challenging 2011 but we prevailed to have served the most clients in our history and we shall continue to press the boundaries of where our future leads us…together we will not just fight hunger but one day eradicate food insecurity in Stark County!

To everyone involved and to Downtown Ford and Lincoln for the 12th Annual Spirit of Giving Day, thank you! We collected 1,631 pounds of food and $1,750. With our anonymous donor match program, we collected 26,131 pounds today! That is a new record and we thank you and all of Stark County for helping make a difference.

Please use your lunch break or free day and join us on November 1st for a FREE lunch and Hunger Awareness Month kickoff.

Each 1/2 hour slot from 11am-1pm will feature:
* speaker in relation to our programs, mission and community
* award presentation to a hunger relief supporter
* most recent hunger statistics
* overview of Hunger Awareness Month’s events

Guest speakers will include:
* Janet Creighton, Stark County Commissioner
* Tim Wedekamm, Farmers and Hunters Feeding the Hungry
* Laurie Johnston, LifeBridge Project
* Eric Smer, Stark County Hunger Task Force
